Mission Statement:

We are a community of avid food enthusiasts with different interests and backgrounds. We want to spread our passion and inspire kids to reconnect with their ancestral culture and learn more about themselves and how they came to be, through food.

How we came to be:

The current CEO, Alex Yeh, worked together with his brother and former CEO, Nick Yeh, to form this non-profit. Now that Nick has moved on to college, Alex has shifted the focus of Project Sprout from hydroponics and sustainability to food and culture. Alex had always been more interested in the culture of food rather than the technicalities of growing it; as such, he transformed Project Sprout into a program through which kids can learn more about their own food and their own culture. Nick had a vision for sustainable growth and helping people to obtain food, and Alex took that vision and decided to help people appreciate that food and look at it in a different way.

From the team:

As we’ve gotten older, we’ve come to recognize and appreciate our own unique ethnic backgrounds. Growing up in the US, we’ve found that a great way to learn about our ancestral culture is through food, a microcosm of every culture. Simply put, food brings people closer together. We want to harness that unique quality to bring kids closer to their own cultures.
